When we opened our store in October 1998, the first product we sold was the Bam. Today, more than 10 years later, it's still one of our best selling toys. The BAM is an impressive 12.5" long (10" insertable), and a massive 2.75" thick (8.5" around). It takes two hands to handle this whopper! One of the most common requests we've gotten over the years was for a "UR3" Bam. UR3 is Doc Johnson's ultra-realistic material. The sales reps at DJ always told us that they weren't going to make a UR3 Bam. Then we started getting inquiries... and even reviews... on a "R5" Bam. We asked our suppliers, and none of them had heard of it. There was nothing on the DJ web site about a new Bam, or any reference to a "R5" material. Recently one of our suppliers said they had gotten a new BAM in, and it did say "R5" on the box. So we had them send us one. And here's the scoop. The new Bam is all brown in color, not two-toned like the original. It is also a darker brown. The box says it is made of R5 which is their trade name for their phthalate free PVC. It also uses the term Sil-A-Gel, which is an odorless, antibacterial formula that Doc Johnson added to all of their materials. It helps to fight bacteria from the inside out. Your guarantee of the safest rubber to keep your toys clean and safe for a long, long time. Aside from that, the new Bam is pretty much identical to the original. It is not softer, or more flexible. In an "eyes closed, one in each hand" test, neither Grey nor Star could tell which toy was which. Our suppliers are just starting to get the new Bam from Doc Johnson, and many of them still have the original in stock. Until all stock of the original is depleted at all our suppliers, you may get either the original or the new Bam when you order. They are identical in feel, so the only difference is the color. We cannot accept requests for a specific shipment of either the original or new version, you will get whichever one our supplier has in stock.
